Fire Harvest Circle first met December 16th , 1999 at Saelyn Samhainborn's apartment, and it was a tense jittery evening. There was so much we wanted to do, but we had our fears and our anxieties...in fact Saelyn wasn't yet Saelyn, Willow wasn't yet Willow and Flicker wasn't yet Flicker! We didn't even have a name for our group!
We desperately wanted a place of trust and honesty where we could feel safe, have fun, and just be ourselves.
We weren't the easiest group of people (still aren't): opinionated, outspoken, feisty, even (gasp) controversial!
Soon what started out accidentally became something we treasured dearly. As of Yule 1999 we declared ourselves a group, but we still didn't have a name!
So, Flicker, Willow and Saelyn pulled the great and legendary pagan all-nighter...we were determined to have the most amazing Yule Sabbat in the history of Wicca! Mythological events occurred that night..there were Boggan sightings, many Marlboro sacrifices, sacred manifestations of 'Cheesey' Fries and dangerous excursions through Shanghai! After hours of pacing , scribbling and hysteria brought on by freezing temperatures and sleep depravation, a masterpiece was born!
The next evening the magickal event took place. Holly and ivy with ice still upon it was gathered, the fish tank was draped , and the chewy Chips Ahoy were laid out for the feast (sigh). Willow frantically read her notes and Flicker practiced for the Oak/Holly King exchange. The altar was lovely, and all in all Saelyn' s apartment had been transformed into a Yule-time paradise as well as a totally hazardous burning inferno of a fire hazard!
It was by the light of a full frosty moon ringed in gold that we had our very first ritual. What a night of mystery and beauty ...as well as the beginning of Willow's 'special' relationship with the west candle!
